This is the best weight reduction per $ spent mod for GT86 / FRS / BRZ. Ultra-lightweight LiFePO4 battery kit:

  • Saves 12.0 kg / 26.5 lbs from stock
  • Easy engine start with 400 CCA (higher than 360 CCA of the stock battery)
  • 24 Ah (Pb Eq) capacity enough to leave the car parked for weeks

Optional is a larger battery for extra capacity and even higher CCA (for example for supercharged engines): 28 Ah (Pb Eq) and 450 CCA with almost the same weight.

The kit has been in testing for several month including multiple track days, daily driving, prolongued parking conditions and various battery drain scenarios.

What to choose:

    1. Base price is for mounting hardware only: a real carbon fibre tie-down bracket, a tray, as well as nuts and bolts
    2. Choose battery: default, plus-size, or no battery (use your own, note tray size is 150 x 87 mm / 5.9 x 3.4 inch)
    3. Add SAE terminals if you don't have your own M6 to SAE terminal adaptors
    4. Add a compatible charger for peace of mind (note that lead-acid chargers cannot be used with LiFePO4 batteries as they will damage the battery)

    Installation is easy and takes 5 minutes. Take the old battery and the tray out. Replace the left bolt holding the metal bracket revealed with the provided threaded rod. Put in the new tray, and reuse the longer stock j-hook and the newly installed threaded rod to secure the new battery in place. Do NOT overtighten the nuts on the tie-down braket.

    Battery has a built-in voltage indicator. If the voltage drops below 12.8V it is recommended to charge the battery using a compatibe LiPo charger before starting the car. If the voltage drops below 12.2V starting the car must not be attempted before charging the battery.

    When disconnecting the battery for longer periods of parking (e.g. during off-season for race cars), the battery does not have to be put on a tender, as LiFePO4 batteries have almost no self-discharge, as opposed to lead-acid batteries.

    Frequently asked questions

    Q: Does it work for daily driving?
    A: Yes. If your car doesn't have additional parasitic consumers, beyond what stock 86/BRZ, has you can leave it parked for 2-3 weeks and it will start as normal. If you leave it parked for longer than that, we recommend to disconnect one of the battery terminals.

    Q: Do you manufacture the battery yourself?
    A: The battery is made by an OEM manufacturer based in China, with whom we have partnered, and assembled according to an exact specification.

    Q: What if I have a warranty claim?
